You will answer 4 interviewer questions. You will have 45 seconds to answer each question. Initial questions focus on factual information and personal experience, whereas later questions ask you to express and support your opinions.

Scenario
You have agreed to take part in a research study about films and television viewing. You will have a short online interview with a researcher. The researcher will ask you some questions.
Question 1
Thank you for your time. I'm researching how people watch films and programmes now. How and where do you usually watch?

Almost always at home, on a laptop or the television, and usually in the evening. I subscribe to two streaming services, which is honestly more than I need. I still go to the cinema a few times a year, but it has become an occasion rather than a habit. Watching at home is simply easier to fit around everything else.

What kind of films or programmes do you enjoy most, and why?

I lean towards drama series with a strong story running across several episodes. I like having time to get to know the characters rather than meeting them for two hours. Documentaries are my other favourite, particularly about history. What I avoid is anything I have to concentrate on very hard late at night.

Has streaming changed the way you watch compared with a few years ago?

It has changed it completely. I used to watch whatever was on at eight o'clock, and now I choose from a huge list. That sounds better, and mostly it is, but I waste a fair amount of time deciding. I also watch alone more often, because everybody in the house is watching something different.

Do you think films and television influence how people see the world? Say why.

I do, though I think the influence is gradual rather than dramatic. Seeing the same kind of person portrayed the same way for years slowly shapes what feels normal. That works in both directions, so good programmes can widen people's sympathies. I would not claim a single film changes anyone's mind, but the accumulated effect is real.
